Need help with ideas for strange creatures for a story?

I'm trying to write a short story about how there's this other world tied to our world somehow, and I needed some help with coming up with ideas on what to make the creatures look like that live in that world. I need ideas that make them look like fantasy, alien-ish, anything that doesn't really look like you'd normally find here on Earth. I appreciate any ideas.
