Did he lie to us????????

We recently got a female rabbit from a man we don't know very well. He claimed that the rabbit was 2 1/2 months old, and today, out of the blue, she started pulling out her hair and had 4 babies. She is still having them right now so i'm not sure how many. We have had rabbits before and if i am right the gestation date is 28 days? anyway she hasn't come in contact with a male since we have had her. So is it possible he lied about her age?
