How do you ask a girl out? (girls only)?

Hey there, i'm a nice honest yet definately a shy guy whos kinda quiet. I'm not to bad lookin so i've been told and everyone i'm friend's with saids i'm a nice guy even though I tend to shake it off and say nah i'm just a typical guy where theres like a million of me. Anyhow I notice the majority of guy's out there can be complete jerks towards girls there with i.e cheating/abusive and could care less about putting the girl/womans feelings first yet those type of guy's always end up with girls so easily compared to someone like me. Anyhow I feel kinda embarassed about asking this but how would you strike up a conversation with a nice girl and then ask her out without coming across as weird? also the right place for meeting a girl. Any answers and personal experiences would be appreciated ladies and take care all ^^
